• Hey, who took my Chiron?

If you’ve been playing around with Silverlight 2 for a bit now, you may have heard about/used the tool chiron.exe.  It was a tool in the SDK that shipped in Beta 2 that was responsible (for among other things) at that time for packaging the XAP.

Fast forward to release builds for Silverlight 2.  No Chiron.  Hey, what’s up?

Chiron is still available for you if you want it.  It is a part of the Silverlight Dynamic Languages SDK which is available on Codeplex.  So if you need/want it, there you go.  Some people were using Chiron for their automated build scenarios to create the XAP package during the builds.  A lot of the packaging stuff for XAPs is now a part of some of the MSBuild tasks, so you can still automate your builds using MSBuild.

Silverlight Travel: Chiron was actually a tool that originated from the DLR team...it is what they use to host xap-less Silverlight 2 applications in the DLR for the development environment.

    # web service update

I watched all your videos tutorials, I love them. I'm trying to learn how to use web service with silverlight, but your video is using the old version of silverlight
    silverlight.net/learn/learnvideo.aspx?video=47177
and I'm using silverlight version RC0. Are you planning to upgrade your tutorial to work with version 2.0?
    Thanks for the good work.

Rachida: yes we will be updating the code, but not the videos. It shouldn't require much work if you want to email me offline and I can tell you what you need to do if you tell me which video.

    Hi, Tim
    I have a question.
Because Microsoft had not contained assemblies for Managed JScript in Silverlight SDK, the sdlsdk project site in Codeplex becomes only release site of it.
But Managed JScript is not open source.
Has CodePlex permitted the release of Managed JScript?
Although I don't want to remove it from CodePlex, I am worried about this situation...

after installing the new sl2 sdk, open my projects created with sl2 beta 2, it told me it could not compile, missing value for "compilexaml" parameter etc.

then I try to create a new project, it could not be created.

then after uninstalling the sl tools b2 for vs 2008, old projects could not be opened.

where is sl tools 2(rtm), is it included with sl2 sdk? if so, the installer why not ask me to uninstall the sl2 tools beta 2?
